How to use the "AI Instructions" page

Initially, you will find auto-generated instructions based on your onboarding survey responses. You can adjust these or add new instructions at any time.

The customization options for NoForm.ai allow you to personalize the chatbot's interaction style and define its personality, enhancing its alignment with your specific requirements. Here's how you can utilize these options:

How to Write Effective AI Instructions?

Follow these guidelines when creating or updating instructions to optimize engagement and lead generation:

1. Set a Clear Role

Define what role the AI plays on the website. For example:

  • “You are a customer service AI specializing in answering product inquiries.”

  • “You help qualify leads by gathering contact information and guiding visitors toward a demo request.”

2. Establish Context

Provide enough business context for the assistant to be well-informed. For instance, if your business offers B2B software solutions, ensure the assistant can reference those solutions in relevant ways.

3. Define the Goal

Specify the interaction's ultimate goal (e.g., confirming bookings, sending follow-up emails). The AI should work toward this goal subtly, offering value without being pushy.

4. Tailor the Style

Adjust the tone to match your brand identity (professional, casual, etc.).

5. Anticipate Common Scenarios

Write rules for likely situations. For example:

  • What happens if a visitor refuses to give contact information?

  • What should the AI do if a visitor asks about products vs. pricing?

6. Set Interaction Boundaries

Limit the AI's actions to avoid over-promising (e.g., confirming bookings, sending follow-up emails). Clarify that your human team handles certain actions.

Customizing these aspects ensures the chatbot provides relevant information and maintains consistency with your brand's voice. It also reduces the risk of inaccurate responses or the AI addressing topics outside its knowledge base.

Saving Changes when editing instructions

Changes are saved automatically as you move the focus from the AI Instructions text field to any UI element. You will see the following notification at the top right of your screen confirming the save:

Once changes to AI Instructions are saved, the test chat will be reset with the new instructions applied. Saving modifications do not affect embedded chat, chat bubbles, or shared chat.

Publish and Discard

Publishing AI Instructions means applying the new instructions to your Assistant. Before publishing, you must confirm this action, as it will affect the Embedded chat, Chat bubble, or Shared chat. After the confirmation, you’ll see a notification at the top right of your screen indicating that the new AI Instructions have been published.

The Discard option reverts unpublished edits to the latest version of the AI Instructions. You must confirm this action in a dialogue.
